Course Description
The aims and objectives of this qualification are to enable students to enhance their linguistic skills and promote and develop their capacity for critical thinking on the basis of their knowledge and understanding of the language, culture and society of Russia and the Russian-speaking world. Develop control of the language system to convey meaning, using spoken and written skills, including an extended range of vocabulary, for both practical and intellectual purposes as increasingly confident, accurate and independent users of Russian. Develop their ability to interact effectively with users of Russian in speech and in writing, including through online media.

Assessment
Examination based. Assessment will take place either at a British Council office or an approved Edexcel Centre in your home country. The Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced GCE in Russian consists of two externally-examined papers assessing listening, reading and writing and a non-examined speaking assessment. The speaking assessment is externally set and conducted by a teacher-examiner. All assessments are marked by Pearson.

Course Duration
A-level Russian is a two-year program. During the two years of studies, students will have access to live online classes as well as they will have academic mentor support and, one to one subject support.
Course Outcome
Upon completion of the A-level in Russia, students will achieve an Edexcel qualification ( providing that all exams have been completed and passed). The final certificate will allow students to apply to their chosen university.
Entry requirements
- Hold GCSE Russian or equivalent.
- Students whose English is not their first language, are required to either sit an internal English assessment or provide an English certificate at a min level B2 in all components.

How many hours a week are students expected to study?
Students are required to undertake 5 hours of self-study per subject. In addition, students will also be required to attend 2 hours of live lessons per subjects.
