The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Mathematics (Specification A) is a linear qualification. It consists of two examinations available at Foundation and Higher Tier.

Both examinations must be taken in the same series at the end of the course of study.The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Mathematics (Specification A) qualification enables students to:

  • Develop their knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts and techniques
  • Acquire a foundation of mathematical skills for further study in the subject or related areas
  • Enjoy using and applying mathematical techniques and concepts, and become confident in using mathematics to solve problems
  • Appreciate the importance of mathematics in society, employment and study

Examination based. Assessment will occur either at a British Council office or an approved Edexcel Centre in your home country. It consists of tiers of entry (Foundation and Higher) that allow students to be entered for the appropriate level, with questions designed to be accessible to students of all abilities in that tier and papers balanced for topics and difficulty.

Each paper will have approximately 40% of the marks distributed evenly over grades 4 and 5 and approximately 60% of the marks distributed evenly over grades 6, 7, 8 and 9.

International GCSE English language A is a two-year program. During the two years of studies, students will have access to live online classes and one-to-one subject support.

Upon completion of the International GCSE in Mathematics A, students will achieve an Edexcel qualification ( providing that all exams have been completed and passed). The final certificate will allow students to apply for A-level and beyond.

  • Provide two years’ previous school reports
  • Undertake a Mathematics internal assessment.
  • Students whose English is not their first language must either sit an internal English assessment or provide an English certificate at a min level of B2 in all components.
