Chemistry sits at the heart of science, connecting physics, biology, and environmental science. At Oxford Online School, our International A Level Chemistry programme helps students understand the behaviour of matter, preparing them for future studies in medicine, pharmacology, engineering, and related fields.
Tailored for online learners, this course supports homeschoolers and international students with high-quality live teaching, structure, and flexibility.
Real-Time Support From UK-Based Chemistry Teachers
All Chemistry lessons are delivered live by experienced, UK-based subject specialists. Using our flipped learning model, students prepare through pre-lesson materials and arrive ready to explore problem-solving, practical analysis, and application in class.
Full-time students are automatically enrolled in our UPP (University Preparation and Progression) programme, which includes:
- One-to-one academic mentoring
- Participation in our Cosmopolitan Future extracurricular programme
- Completion of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is compulsory for all full-time students
Academic mentors collaborate closely with Chemistry teachers to ensure students excel academically and benefit from extracurricular science initiatives.
What You’ll Study
Based on the Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) specification, students will cover:
- Atomic Structure and Bonding – periodic trends, ionic and covalent bonding
- Energetics and Kinetics – exothermic/endothermic reactions, rates and mechanisms
- Equilibria and Redox – Le Chatelier’s Principle, oxidation/reduction
- Organic Chemistry – hydrocarbons, alcohols, carbonyls, and synthesis
- Inorganic Chemistry – groups, transition elements, complex ions
- Practical Chemistry – lab techniques, titration, qualitative analysis, and data evaluation
This provides a strong foundation for further scientific study and lab-based careers.
