Why Study A Level Physics With Us?

Physics is fundamental to understanding the natural world and underpins many disciplines such as engineering, computing, and medicine. At Oxford Online School, we provide a rigorous and supportive A Level Physics course that empowers students to explore these connections with confidence and curiosity.

Designed for online learners following the British curriculum, this course suits homeschooling families, international students, and aspiring scientists seeking an academically strong and flexible learning environment.

Real-Time Support From UK-Based Physics Teachers

All lessons are delivered live by experienced, UK-based Physics teachers who foster critical thinking and scientific exploration. Our approach is grounded in flipped learning, allowing students to access preparatory material prior to class, so that live sessions are focused on deeper analysis and application.

Students enrolled on our full-time A Level programme are automatically part of our UPP (University Preparation and Progression) programme. This includes:

  • One-to-one academic mentoring during the course
  • Participation in our Cosmopolitan Future extracurricular programme
  • Completion of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is compulsory for all full-time A Level students

Our academic mentors work closely with our teaching team to guide and support students, while also opening doors to a wide range of extracurricular opportunities in STEM and beyond.

What You’ll Study

Students will explore major areas of Physics through both theoretical and practical lenses:

  • Mechanics – motion, forces, energy and momentum
  • Waves – properties of waves, light and sound
  • Electricity – circuits, resistance, power and charge
  • Fields – gravitational, electric, and magnetic fields
  • Thermal Physics – energy transfer, specific heat and gases
  • Quantum and Nuclear Physics – atomic models, radioactivity and particle physics

You’ll also develop scientific skills through virtual labs, data analysis, and problem-solving.

Exam Board & How You’ll Be Graded

Oxford Online School follows the Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) Physics specification. This globally recognised qualification is assessed through externally marked written examinations, without coursework.

In addition to final exams, students will:

  • Complete regular homework assignments
  • Undertake termly project-based assessments
  • Sit full mock exams to build confidence and track progress

Our teachers provide ongoing feedback and personalised support to ensure each student reaches their full potential.

Structured Online Learning With Excellent Results

Our online learning model combines academic structure with live teaching. We do not use recorded lessons – every class is interactive, delivered in real time, and designed to encourage participation.

Students benefit from:

  • Small, focused class sizes
  • One-to-one academic mentoring via the UPP programme
  • Flipped learning for deeper in-class engagement
  • Weekly homework and termly assessments
  • Mock exams and exam preparation guidance
  • Access to extracurricular STEM activities and broader school life

This course is ideal for committed learners who value both academic excellence and personalised, flexible support.

Who Is This Course For?

This course is ideal for:

  • Online students with a passion for science and maths
  • Homeschoolers following the British curriculum
  • International students preparing for university STEM pathways
  • Students aiming for careers in engineering, medicine, technology, or research

We welcome students who enjoy intellectual challenge and want to understand how the universe works through structured, expert-led learning.

As well as playing an important role in many of the liberal arts disciplines, Physics contributes to society’s understanding of areas such as energy production, weather, medical science and space exploration. Furthermore, it also explores fundamental questions such as, ‘How did the universe start?’ and ‘What is a black hole?’

Academic success in Physics often offers a route to a rewarding and well-paid profession, along with a high level of job security. In our programme, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of the subject by applying the concepts learned to a range of practical and theoretical situations, set in a variety of contexts.

Examination based. Assessment will take place either at a British Council office or an approved Edexcel Centre in your home country.

International A-level in Physics  is a two-year program. During the two years of studies, students will have access to live online classes as well as they will have academic mentor support and, one to one subject support.

Upon completion of the international A-level in Physics, students will achieve an Edexcel qualification ( providing that all exams have been completed and passed). The final certificate will allow students to apply to their chosen university. Students completing International A-Levels in physics  frequently progress into degree courses in engineering, computing, IT, Product Design etc.

  • Students are required to sit an internal math assessment. This will help tutors to have knowledge of the student’s abilities in the subject.
  • Hold GCSE Maths or equivalent.
  • Students whose English is not their first language, are required to either sit an internal English assessment or provide an English certificate at a min level B2 in all components.
