Statement Regarding Ofsted Accreditation Visit

Oxford Online School welcomes transparency and accountability in education. In February 2025, Ofsted visited the school as part of the Department for Education’s Online Education Accreditation Scheme, which evaluates whether providers meet the minimum standards for full-time online education.

Following the visit, Ofsted concluded that while a number of elements of provision were in place, the school did not meet all of the minimum standards required for accreditation at that time. The report identified several areas where further development and clearer implementation were required, including elements of curriculum structure, personal development provision, safeguarding processes, and the publication of certain information.

Importantly, the report also notes that the school’s leadership took immediate steps during the inspection to begin addressing these matters, providing new documentation and planning materials to inspectors.

Since the visit, Oxford Online School has undertaken a comprehensive programme of improvement to ensure that all standards are fully met and embedded across the school. This work has included:

  • strengthening curriculum documentation and schemes of work across all key stages
  • introducing a structured PSHE programme to support students’ personal development
  • further strengthening safeguarding policies, training and reporting procedures
  • improving the publication of school information and documentation for parents
  • enhancing internal systems to ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures

These developments form part of our ongoing commitment to delivering a high-quality, supportive and transparent online education for our students.

Oxford Online School is currently preparing to reapply for accreditation under the Online Education Accreditation Scheme, and we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the progress that has been made.

We remain committed to continuous improvement and to providing an environment in which students can thrive academically, personally and socially.
