Biology helps us understand the living world—from cells and systems to ecosystems and global health. At Oxford Online School, our International A Level Biology course provides students with a rigorous, engaging scientific education rooted in the British curriculum.
Whether you’re aiming for a future in medicine, environmental science, research, or biotechnology, this course gives you the theoretical knowledge and investigative skills to succeed.
It is especially well-suited to online learners, homeschoolers, and international students seeking structure, depth, and flexibility.
Real-Time Support From UK-Based Biology Teachers
All our Biology lessons are delivered live by experienced, UK-based science teachers. Through our flipped learningmodel, students prepare for lessons by engaging with materials in advance. This ensures class time is used for discussion, practical analysis, and deeper conceptual understanding.
Full-time students are automatically enrolled in our UPP (University Preparation and Progression) programme, which includes:
- One-to-one academic mentoring
- Participation in our Cosmopolitan Future extracurricular programme
- Completion of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which is compulsory for all full-time students
Our academic mentors work closely with subject teachers to track progress, offer support, and guide students in joining extracurricular activities, including science challenges, biology discussion groups, and medical career workshops.
What You’ll Study
The course is based on the Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) specification and includes the following core themes:
- Cells and Molecules – membranes, proteins, DNA, enzymes
- Organisms and Exchange – transport, digestion, gas exchange
- Energy and Environment – photosynthesis, respiration, ecosystems
- Genetics and Evolution – inheritance, gene expression, speciation
- Control and Coordination – hormones, nervous system, immunity
- Applied Biology – biodiversity, biotechnology, and contemporary issues
You will also learn experimental techniques and data analysis skills to prepare for both exams and future scientific study.
