The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Spanish (4SP1) develops students' ability to communicate confidently in Spanish across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Designed around the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE (4SP1) curriculum, this course helps students develop practical Spanish language skills across all four areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, alongside an appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures.

What Students Study

Our Spanish GCSE online course is designed around the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE (4SP1) curriculum. Students develop skills across all four language areas through live interactive lessons in small groups, guided independent study, and regular feedback. With more than 20 countries and 500 million speakers worldwide, Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages and a valuable qualification for university and careers.

Course Details

Assessment

Assessment is split equally across four papers, each worth 25% of the final grade. Paper 1: Listening and Understanding. Paper 2: Speaking. Paper 3: Reading and Understanding. Paper 4: Writing. Speaking exams take place in April/May. All other exams are scheduled for May/June at an approved exam centre.

Course Duration

The IGCSE Spanish is a two-year programme. During those two years, students have access to live online classes, academic mentor support, and one-to-one subject support.

Course Outcome

International GCSE qualifications enable successful progression onto International A Level and beyond. Upon completing the course, students will achieve a Pearson Edexcel qualification, providing that all examinations have been completed and passed.

Entry Requirements

No prior knowledge of Spanish is required to begin this course. Students whose English is not their first language are required to either sit an internal English assessment or provide an English certificate at a minimum level B2.
