The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in French (9โ1) develops students' ability to communicate confidently in French across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Overview
Designed around the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE (9โ1) specification, this course allows students to develop French language skills across all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students build both practical communication skills and an understanding of French-speaking cultures.
What Students Study
Our French GCSE online course is designed around the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE (9โ1) specification. Students develop skills across all four language areas through live interactive lessons in small groups, guided independent study, and regular feedback. More than 29 countries and 270 million people speak French, making it one of the most valuable second languages for university and career applications.

Course Details
Assessment
Assessment is split equally across four papers, each worth 25% of the final grade. Paper 1: Listening and Understanding. Paper 2: Speaking. Paper 3: Reading and Understanding. Paper 4: Writing. Speaking exams take place in April/May. All other exams are scheduled for May/June at an approved exam centre.
Course Duration
The IGCSE French is a two-year programme. During those two years, students have access to live online classes, academic mentor support, and one-to-one subject support.
Course Outcome
International GCSE qualifications enable successful progression onto International A Level and beyond. Upon completing the course, students will achieve a Pearson Edexcel qualification, providing that all examinations have been completed and passed.
Entry Requirements
No prior knowledge of French is required to begin this course. Students whose English is not their first language are required to either sit an internal English assessment or provide an English certificate at a minimum level B2.
