How EAL support works

EAL support at Oxford Online School is built into how the school works with international students day to day. These are the key ways the school helps students access English-medium teaching and make progress with confidence.

Academic English Development

Students are supported to build the vocabulary, reading strategies and written expression they need to engage confidently with British curriculum content across all subjects.

In-Lesson Teacher Support

Teachers are experienced in working with students for whom English is an additional language and adapt their explanations, pace and feedback accordingly.

Speaking and Listening Confidence

Live lessons give students regular opportunities to practise spoken English in a structured, supportive setting with direct teacher interaction.

Reading and Written Work

Support with reading academic texts and producing written work is built into lesson delivery, helping students meet curriculum expectations as their English develops.

Progress Tracked and Shared

Language development is monitored alongside academic progress and communicated to parents, so families have a clear picture of how their child is getting on.
